The Terraces Have Won
A homage to the places standing today, 10 years after the November 13th 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris, France.
The terraces have won… As was said by someone after the trial of 2021-2022 concluded. At the same time it was screamed, shouted, cryed - silently, surely, undeniably by the whole city, if not the whole western world.
Other mottos like “Je suis Paris” immediately after the attacks, and the age-old “Fluctuat nec mergitur” kept the hope of peace in the streets and in the soul of the people since day one.
I keep “The terraces have won”.
The people of Paris resisted, persisted and won.
After a few months documenting the places, the remnants, researching the lives affected, the traumas withstood, the fear spread, one thing kept coming up again and again… the terraces have won.
Not now, not after 10 years, but since the immediate aftermath.
One hopes that this semblance of normalcy has brought the slightest of comfort to the people affected by what happened, whether close or far.
I do hope it brings them a bit closer to peace.
Never forget.
